ASIAN PARA GAMES 2018: ‘Inspiring the Spirit and Energy of Asia’
The year of 2018 will definitely be the year in which the spirit of Sport reverberates from Indonesia across Asia and the rest of the world. Following the 18th Asian Games scheduled to take place from August 18th to September 2nd, 2018 in Jakarta and Palembang, the 3rd Asian Para Games will also be held from October 6th to 13th at the Bung Karno Sports Complex in the capital city of Jakarta.

The Indonesia Asian Para Games 2018 (or INAPG 2018) will mark the first major international multi-sports event held in Indonesia involving athletes with a range of disabilities coming from countries from across the Asia. Continuing the spirit of Asian Games 2018, INAPG 2018 has selected the slogan of ‘Inspiring the Spirit and Energy of Asia’ which is aimed to further foster unity and brotherhood among Asian nations as well as support global social equality.

Just as in the Asian Games 2018, INAPG 2018 will also introduce a unique Indonesian animal as its mascot. As symbol of Motivation and Mobility: the Brahminy Kite or locally known as ‘Elang Bondol’ that was chosen as mascot, and aptly named Momo (from Motivation and Mobility).

Fittingly, Elang Bondol also happens to be the mascot of the capital city Jakarta, host of this year’s Asian Para Games.

This multi-sporting event will feature15 Paralympic and three non-Paralympic sports, which are: Archery, Para Athletic, Badminton, Boccia, Chess, Cycling, Goal Ball, Judo, Lawn Ball, Para Powerlifting, Para Swimming, Shooting Para Sport, Tenpin Bowling, Table Tennis, Volleyball Sitting, Wheelchair basketball, Wheelchair Fencing, and Wheelchair Tennis.
